Broadview Gardens is a unique garden originally designed and maintained as a teaching resource for students at Hadlow College.
The gardens are maintained by a dedicated team of gardeners and offer work experience for students and volunteers.
The 8 acres of garden are formed around a 100 metre long double mixed border backed with clipped Yew hedges and columnar Oak trees.
From the border run two grass avenues lined with clipped hedges.
Hanging from this structure are a variety of large and small contemporary and traditional gardens designed and built by students of Hadlow College.
The gardens of approximately 10 acres lie on a stony silt soil above clay, exposed to both the prevailing south west and the cold north east winds.
Open throughout the year, the gardens offer interest from early spring with Hellebores and early flowering bulbs, through spring and early summer with a multitude of Tulips, Alliums, Iris and Roses, to late summer with the peak of the Dahlias, grasses and Cannas.
A sunny winter's day is the ideal time to see the intense stem colours of the Dogwoods and discover many other plants of interest at this time of year.
Our students are actively involved in every aspect of our work at Broadview, gaining valuable work experience.
From helping to maintain Broadview Gardens to assisting in our Garden Centre, commercial nursery and florist bringing our commercial arms together with our academic teaching so that our students leave the College ready for their future career.
