Our award winning gardens are recognised by their strong architectural identities, showcasing a lush and elegant style of planting and incorporating an eclectic mix of texture and colour. We have been pioneering the "Inside/Outside concept" - making gardens an extension of the interior living space - since designing gardens for the 1995 Chelsea Flower Show.
The Historic gardens of many different cultures are a rich source of ideas, as are the latest materials produced by cutting edge technology. We are fascinated by the juxtaposition of new industrial materials combined with traditional techniques and methods. We believe in sustainability and try to increase the ecological diversity and richness of any landscape in which we work.
Our gardens are very much a product of their time. We believe that clients should have as much or as little involvement with the design process as they wish. Ultimately we like to make connections between people and places, emotions and ideas, hearts and minds.

Services
On larger projects we are normally working as part of a team, alongside architects, interior designers, M&E consultants, lighting designers and sometimes others.
After the project has been completed we can assist with ongoing consultancy to ensure the garden is maintained well and matures as expected.
Lighting of a garden or any outside space is crucial, not only of benefit when in the garden at night but also for nighttime views of the garden from within the house.
That said, more often than not we take the 'less is more' approach as we feel that these spaces should look like they are bathed in moonlight or candle light.

This garden is dominated by two huge London Planes on the rear boundary.
With their extensive roots we could not plant much nearby, nor could we excavate for paving.
A floating deck provides a sheltered terrace area with minimal disturbance to the trees.
The gnarled trunks add fantastic sculptural and textural interest to the garden.

Our design process normally follows the work stages outlined below.
These are very similar to Architectural work stages and are as published by the Society of Garden Designers (www.sgd.org.uk).
Not all projects require all stages.
We generally start with an initial meeting with the prospective client(s), normally at the project site.
We can then familiarise ourselves with the site, take a photographic record, discuss the 'hopes and dreams' for the garden, understand key features and issues, and generally get to know one another.
