Jackie Gough Garden Design has been designing and building gardens for clients since 2002 and pride ourselves in offering a friendly, approachable, and extremely professional service. With experience of designing over 200 gardens since the company started, we believe we have the extensive experience necessary to help you in achieving the garden you want, which is beautiful, practical, safe and can be used by everyone regardless of age or personal situation.
We are able to provide the total garden service from initial consultation, through to build and finally planting. We project manage throughout the whole job and all clients can choose whether to use the total service or only those elements they require. Working throughout Hertfordshire and south Bedfordshire, many of our happy and satisfied customers have asked us to design gardens in subsequent houses, something always seen personally as a great endorsement.
Typical job cost 35,000 to 100,000 plus. These prices are excluding design fees and Vat.

Services
We maximise the space and practical use of a garden by using creative techniques that will suit you and your garden's requirements.
Levels can be made workable and allow previously unused areas to be incorporated into the garden.
As garden designers, we know what plants work in the right places, which allows your planting enough room to grow and flourish.
In the long term this saves you money with less plant failure.
We can usually arrange an initial consultation within 2 weeks.
The process after this is dependant on the current pipeline of work, but when you contact me I will have some idea of how long it would be before we could schedule in your job.

This garden was to be built to specifically incorporate some land acquired by our clients at the back of the garden.
At a raised level, this enabled us to design the garden on two levels.
The brief was for a relaxed adult seating area, an area for children's play equipment, a larger lower patio for dining table and chairs and a water feature.
Designed and built on the asymmetric allowed for the garden to be interesting and yet each area feels roomy and inviting.
The water blade, falling from the top to the bottom level, adds interest both visually and audibly, and the blue rendered wall creates a sense of drama.

This garden was designed, built and planted for a large, new build, contemporary house.
The clients wanted something simple and 'clean' looking to match the interior of the house, but with soft planting, as the garden backs onto a large field.
We were asked to design a Willow tree into the garden space to match the house name!
Sloping from one side to the other, low retaining walls manage the slope, the left hand ones of which house a path leading to a smaller patio at the bottom of the garden.

This garden was in a terrible state, was extremely overgrown and had a massive slope from top to bottom.
The client wanted to make the garden useable, which meant it needed to be terraced.
We designed a top large patio with enough space for a dining table and chairs and plenty of room for sunbeds.
Surrounded by a rendered retaining wall painted in soft grey, the lawn was accessed via one set of steps, with a second set leading down to a decked relaxed seating area, which has been furnished with outdoor sofas.

This small Hertfordshire garden was very tired and plain with overgrown shrubs and old patio.
The clients wanted a complete revamp and for it to look pretty, be functional and add space for vegetables and a greenhouse.
This required a careful design to make best use of the modest space available.
The end result is a beautiful and clean looking garden with carefully planted bordering plants to help make this small garden appear spacious.
The little vegetable patch is thriving!
