The South Pennine Walling
Master craftsman dry stone waller Richard Meller and his team work with you to create usable, exciting, enjoyable spaces using masonry and dry stone walling to transform your landscapes and gardens. Richard has many years experience planning and landscaping gardens. His team combine stone work with extensive horticultural knowledge to transform any area.

Well constructed dry stone, being both flexible and free-draining, is an ideal material for hard landscaping. The natural beauty of dry stone is the perfect backdrop for plants, and is equally at home in a contemporary setting as in a traditional rural scene. Dry stone walling is one of the first steps in transforming a garden. Once the levels have been found and the structure created, the rest of the garden can then take shape.

A natural stone cladding can add a huge amount to a house or other structure. We are practised at creating a tight dry stone look with exterior stone cladding, as well as creating pointed mortared or lime claddings.
Services
Richard founded The South Pennine Walling Company in 1988 following his experience of working for the National Trust.

Much of our work involves improving or maintaining the structure of gardens using natural stone.
We work with our clients or their designers to make their dream gardens a reality, consulting and advising where necessary.
A steep slope can be a challenging space to garden and maintain.
Once levels and steps have been created this become much easier and the space more comfortable to use.
We often build steps with riven Yorkstone but other sawn or reclaimed stones also used depending on project or area.
Dry stone cladding a structure can have all the advantages of a stone outer appearance whilst retaining the advantages of a modern structure in terms of wall cavity and insulation.
We have clad buildings using different types of stone and mortars and can achieve different effects.
We are experienced at cladding with various types of stone that can achieve a masonry effect or a more rustic style we can find a stone to match your needs if you require a clad garden wall or part of a property clad in stone.
