Gabriola Garden Design
Based in Wotton-Under-Edge, Gloucestershire, in the South West of England, Gabriola Garden Design offer a full range of garden services. Typically our work involves working with clients from initial design and planning, right through the landscaping and planting stages, and finally if needed, maintenance. This wouldn't be possible unless we consistently delivered gardens that delighted our clients, and just as importantly, brought them in on budget.

As a small, local garden design company, our success has been built on customers recommending our services to family and friends. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work - a quote from us is a quote to do the job properly, using the right materials, and using the correct techniques. Garden design is about more than simply creating a garden that looks good - it needs to function according to the needs of the client.

A family garden needs to be safe but fun for the children, while still providing areas for parents to relax and entertain in.
Services
A few years ago, I decided to turn a passion for gardening, into a business.
Over the years, I had worked on many gardens and small landscape projects, particularly during my travels to countries such as Canada, Australia and the U.S.
It was during a return visit to Canada, with my family, that we came across the beautiful island of Gabriola.
It is one of the Northern Gulf islands, a short ferry ride from Vancouver Island.
With its stunning scenery of driftwood covered beaches and tranquil bays, it provided life changing inspiration and an urge to create.
The following images show examples of our hand drawn layout plans.
Hand drawn plans are fast becoming a rarity these days, with many opting for the convenience of computer drawn plans, but we're not convinced that computers are anywhere near flexible enough yet to replace the traditional combination of artist and draughtsman required of the traditional garden designer.

Nothing beats a drawing for fleshing out design ideas so that both the client and the designer are clear about what the final result should look like.
The following gallery should give you a taste of what is possible in a variety of garden sizes and types.

Partial screens offer a good degree of privacy without adversely affecting the feeling of size and light within a garden.
Gabions being used again, this time as part of a retaining wall in a terraced garden, helping to tame what would otherwise be an unusable slope.
We take great pride in the quality and creativity of our stonework.
Here, three separate elements join to show how contrasting styles of stonework can be used in conjunction.
