In 1990 Robert Kean, a qualified landscape architect, decided to leave full-time employment to start his own landscaping design and construction company which would quickly become Hedgehogs Nursery. Alongside this new venture, Robert wanted a wholesale plant nursery. A place to grow his own plants and trees to supply his landscape business. The back garden was requisitioned for the task, and very quickly filled with tunnels and plants grown from seeds and cuttings.
Hedgehogs Nursery Garden Centre in Fife was born. It quickly became apparent our 'little plot of land' packed with plants and tunnels was no longer adequate for our burgeoning business. Before we knew it Robert purchased a new site with more room, more tunnels and more glass houses, and of course - more work! The local Fife Garden Centre stocked every plant we can ever need for our landscaping endeavours.
But it soon became apparent that what we really needed was to extend the business. So that we can also supply all the materials associated with the industry.

Hedgehogs Nursery offers great bulk buys on composted and ornamental bark in your local fife area.
A great way to get rid of weeds the organic way.
Bring your own trailer down and we will fill it with what you require - an easy and great way to get your garden in working order.
Don't forget we also have weed control fabric in all grades - put the weed fabric down first, then place the bark on top - the fabric lets water through so there is no pooling of water creating a floating bark pond - and it helps suppress the weeds!

Overall, using gravel in your garden is a great way to spruce up your garden by adding colour and shape by using various kinds of decorative gravel.
Creating pathways or even driveways with garden gravel and hard wearing driveway gravel will add something special to your space.
Remember to put down some weed control membrane before laying gravel to help suppress weeds from coming through.
Weed control fabrics also allow water to escape rather than collecting in pools.

Top dressing is applied to lawns to help level out minor bumps or imperfections, etc that are on the surface of the lawns, and it will also help create an improved environment for germination of new grass seed.
The application of lawn top dressing is usually organised in the Autumn or Spring.
Ideally the area should be scarified and aerated to remove the excess thatch that is located at the surface of the soil and aeration will help to alleviate any compaction in the soil under the lawn.
This will ensure that the top dressing can be worked well into the upper layer of the soil.
