Rachel Bailey Garden Design
We all have different aspirations for our gardens. Whether you want your garden as a place for relaxation, entertainment, reflection or play, we would love to help you create your perfect garden; one tailored to your personal style, practical needs. More than that, we would love to help you create a garden that impacts positively on you as well as nature.

Trained at the world renowned Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, I have expertise in garden design and a passion for plants and our natural environment. From cottage garden to Japanese-inspired style, I can help you to draw out the full potential of your garden, no matter how large or small, to create an innovative design for your outdoor space; one that nurtures and inspires you.

Using a clearly defined process that takes you from inspiration to implementation, I will work closely with you to create a unique design for your garden. Without plants, your garden is not complete. Plants add drama and atmosphere to the garden. Importantly they also offer a habitat for other organisms that share the garden.
Services
I work through a clearly defined design process, as outlined below, that will take you from inspiration to implementation of your garden.
The process is one in which you are involved throughout.
Everyone has different wants and needs from their garden.
During our initial meeting, I will spend time with you in your garden and ask you what you want from your garden and if you have any special requirements, and ask you about the style you like.
You may have photos or magazine cuttings of gardens, features, plants and styles that you wish to show me.
Plants bring the life and soul to your garden, giving year-round drama and atmosphere.
With planting design experience and knowledge of plants from different ecological conditions and ones that are good for wildlife, I will work with you to design a planting scheme that reflects your style and suits your gardens soil type and environmental conditions.
A planting scheme that will bring out the most of your garden and its features, enhancing its location and connecting to the surroundings - whether a new garden design or a revamp of existing borders.
Unsure how to make the best of your garden - from enhancing views to screening unsightly ones?
Perhaps you have an area of your garden that you would like to make more of, or you would like advice on how to get started in your garden.
Whatever you would like to do, I can provide you with a one-off design consultation service, which will take one and a half hours, where I can give you design advice for your garden, answering your questions.
After our meeting, I will send you a report summarising what we discussed.
My portfolio covers a variety of gardens that vary in style, scale and setting - from small residential back and front gardens to community gardens and commercial projects.
Each garden design and planting scheme is unique and designed to reflect the landscape and the client's needs.
Common to all the projects is a commitment to sustainability and a strong spatial design full of planting, selected on their appropriateness for the conditions, the design, and client's desires.
Our company considers plant health and biosecurity of utmost importance.
We are registered as a Professional Operator with the Science and Advice for Scottish Agricultural (SASA), as legally required, for plant passporting.
Always assess plant health risks prior to undertaking any horticultural business activities.
Endeavour to educate / train staff and inform our clients of the importance of good plant health.
Specify the smallest plants possible in the knowledge that larger plants can provide a greater biosecurity risk.
