JJ Harrison Landscapes Ltd are a family business based in Whitby North Yorkshire, established in 1978.
Joe Harrison started on his own, gradually increasing over the years as demand made it necessary.
We are now a Limited company, which includes son Paul, who joined after gaining a HND in horticulture.
Paul started at an early age with his brother Mark mowing lawns and grass cutting with Joe on a Saturday morning for pocket money.
Both are still involved in the business, while Mark still has an input on the IT side, Paul has largely taken over the day to day running of the business.
We've been asked to make several structures over recent years, from an Outhouse-come-Log Shed to a Log Store, BBQ, Bin Area, Bridge, and Tree House.
The possibilities are endless I guess, but whether its wood or stone please don't be afraid to ask, as many challenges have been handed to us, and in most cases we have conquered.
As you can see from some of our photos here, almost anything is possible.
If you have a problem, whether it be a simple storage problem, something needs screening off, or you need something for the kids to play in, plants need something to grow up, people need something to walk along or sit out on.
Everybody likes somewhere to sit out when the weather is fine.
It might seem a little strange putting this together, but our first experience of artificial grass was to cover some decking that was getting worn by cricket spikes, and was also becoming rather slippery.
Hence, the decking was covered and is still there today with AstroTurf covering it.
We've come a long way since then, as has the quality of artificial turf.
Several different grades are available for your needs and it certainly doesn't need to be laid on decking.
Fencing is a broad term these days, as there seems to be more different types on the market than ever before.
It's an all-round job for us but is often brought about more in the winter months when bad weather can cause damage.
Whether it be a simple repair or total renewal it is never a problem, everything from a simple demarcation, to a protective barrier, can be supplied and erected.
Replacing a panel that has simply blown out or large stretches of agricultural fences are pretty much the two extremes that come along.
The grass cutting season generally runs from the beginning of March to the end of October.
Depending on the seasonal changes and weather it can run outside of these dates, particularly when sports are involved and the height of cut needs to be kept constant.
So, if your personal needs stretch outside of the regular season it's not a problem, if weather and ground conditions allow.
The frequency of cut is also something that varies, usually depending on personal preference.
Most domestic lawns and general cutting has a fortnightly interval, where more formal lawns requiring a more professional finish come down to a weekly cut.
