I am an experienced and professionally trained garden designer with a passion for creating gardens ranging from tiny contemporary spaces to large historic estates. Listening carefully to clients and working closely with contractors, I have a reputation for interpreting individual needs and wishes in order to produce gardens which are practical and very beautiful spaces to be enjoyed for years to come.
The garden titled The Watchtower in the Portfolio pages was given the top national Supreme Award by the Association of Professional Landscapers. We are delighted with the design and planting plan she has provided. Sally listens as well as making suggestions, so that you end up with what you wanted, plus happy ideas you might never have considered.
Her design is sensitive to the present setting, and its future enhancement. With Sally you will feel accompanied and guided rather than taken over.'

Services
The starting point for most clients is an Ideas and Inspiration Hour in your garden.
This time is both inspiring and informative as the potential of the garden is discussed, together with the needs and wishes of the garden owner.
For some clients, who perhaps need advice on planting or tweaking their garden, this can be seen as a trouble-shooting visit and may fulfil their requirements.
For clients who need a more in-depth approach a fee proposal is provided after the meeting for whatever services are needed, ranging from a simple one-off planting plan to a full design service.

For clients who need a more in-depth approach a fee proposal is provided after the meeting for whatever services are needed, ranging from a simple one-off planting plan to a full design service.
Once the fee proposal is accepted an in-depth briefing takes place with the client, covering all practical and aesthetic aspects of the garden, including materials, style, likes and dislikes, use of space and budget.
Listening to your ideas and preferences is a priority.
It is always useful if a wish list is produced by you prior to the meeting and magazine photos or internet images of gardens/features can be invaluable discussion points.
If the site is relatively simple a scaled survey may be done at this visit and I will photograph the garden and do a site analysis.

An outline plan is initially produced to explain the proposed design.
This is a simple drawing which forms a discussion document so that you can fine-tune any details and I can make associated changes.
Once this has been approved by you a detailed full colour 2D presentation plan is drawn up, showing the position of hard landscaping, planted areas and garden features.
In most cases a layout plan and specification are also provided, which give accurate information for contractors such as measurements, levels, materials and construction instructions.

I can source quotations from contractors whom I know and trust if you wish.
Once you have chosen a contractor, I can make regular site visits to ensure that your garden is being built to the highest standard and as we have planned.
This is a valuable service for more complex projects or when clients are too busy to manage the process themselves.

The choice of plants needs to take into account the aspect of the site, soil, drainage, shape, texture and colour, flowering season, maintenance levels and hardiness.
I have an extensive knowledge of plants and how to combine and position them so that they thrive and look wonderful.
Should the client wish, I can source and supply the plants from wholesale nurseries I know and trust.
This service includes supervising setting out the plants after delivery so that you or the contractor can plant them.
