I have loved gardening from the age of 7 when I was out in the garden turning soil and getting seeds to grow. Before long I was growing flowers and vegetables. I knew I was going to be a gardener from a young age. I left school in 1988 and enrolled in a 2 year college course; City & Guilds in horticulture at Pershore College. In the first year I was on a placement with a local fencing company which gave me the skills to source and erect good quality fencing.
In the 2nd year my placement was at a wholesale nursery where I gained hands-on knowledge of plants and flowers. I spent a few years out of horticulture in the motor trade and during this time I did a customer care course at NVQ level 3; which is very useful now that I am serving my own customers. During my time out of the horticultural industry I soon realised that my forte is clearly as a gardener.
So in 1999 I went back to Pershore College of horticulture and completed a general horticulture course, followed by a national certificate in horticulture in 2001.
