Services
The management of weeds and invasive plants in the UK can be subject to legislation which includes: The Weeds Act 1959; The Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974; The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981; The Food and Environment Protection Act 1985; The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 1994; The Environmental Protection Act 1990; The Water Resources Act 1991; The Anti Social Behaviour Act 2014 and The Infrastructure Act 2015.
There are many plants not covered by the Weeds Act 1959 which are considered to be a threat to British wildlife.
Native Landscapes have been providing weed control services on utility sites including; water treatment facilities, wind farms, wind turbines, solar farms, site access roads, control buildings, parking areas, footpaths and recreational areas for over 20 years.
We can assist utility site companies and managers by providing a "Weed Management Plan" (WMP).
Details gathered from electronic data provided by the client along with site survey information is used to produce the WMP which includes; location of the site(s), details of the site(s), site limitations, weed species on site identification, grid map references, site priorities, recommendations and projected costs.
Floating pennywort (Hydrocotyle ranunculoides) is an invasive aquatic plant which is native to North America.
It was first brought to Britain in the 1980's to sell as a plant for tropical aquaria and garden ponds.
Floating pennywort spreads rapidly from small root fragments and forms dense interwoven mats of vegetation.
It can completely cover the surface of slow flowing rivers, streams, ditches, dykes lakes and ponds.
Once established this plant causes significant impacts on the ecology, hydrology and amenity uses of the water body.
Parrots feather is an invasive aquatic perennial plant that was brought to Britain from South America in 1960.
It gets its name from its feather-like leaves which die back each winter.
Plants have spread into the wild from garden ponds by vegetative propagation as it does not produce seed in the UK.
Once established this plant can out-compete native aquatic plants, reduce biodiversity and impact recreational users.
Native Landscapes have a proven track record of successfully controlling and eradicating Parrots Feather.
Giant Hogweed was introduced into Britain in 1893 as an ornamental plant.
It spread from gardens by seed and is rapidly colonising many areas of waste land and river banks in the UK.
It can grow to 5 metres high and has a large umbel of white flowers from which it produces 50 to 5000 viable seeds per year.
The sap of Giant Hogweed can cause a severe skin reaction in humans, resulting in blisters, scars and if it comes in contact with eyes blindness.
Native Landscapes have a proven track record of successfully controlling and eradicating Giant Hogweed.
