I am so thrilled with how he has developed the garden.
He has transformed it from a wilderness to an eco friendly habitat for bugs and beasties, yet its wonderful to look at.
John takes time to work out what you want, eg.
I am red/green colour blind and he sourced the plants I could see.
I cannot recommend him highly enough.'
Gardeners who come and scratch the soil and take out a few weeds are 10-a-penny.
We wanted to find someone different.
Someone who had in-depth knowledge of plants and treesand where and how they grow.
Although there are sceptics and alarmists, science and observational evidence proves that climate change, the warming of the earths surface through greenhouse gas emissions, is happening at an increasingly faster pace today than thousands, even millions of years ago.
Natural factors, such as the changing of the earths orbit around the sun, do contribute to global warming but it is man's activities, such as the combustion of fossil fuels gas, oil and coal to produce energy.
At a personal level many of us play our part through individual behaviour such as recycling waste, purchasing electric cars etc.
Minimal maintenance or interference with the planting is the key principle.
All maintenance practices disturb and stress the existing biota (plants and animals in the planting/habitat).
Any maintenance practices should be done with as light a hand as possible to minimise disturbance and allow where ever possible the biota to regulate itself.
The ecological gardener needs to develop a clear technical knowledge of plant establishment and management in the planting mix.
The ecological gardener is more than just an outside cleaner keeping the garden tidy by cutting the grass, weeding and trimming shrubs and hedges.
